DTN COMMENTS:  Just a few cleanup deals have been reported in parts of 
Kansas and Nebraska today. Light to moderate business took place yesterday 
with Southern live trade marked at $228, $3 lower than last week's 
weighted averages. Northern dressed sales had a range of $346 to $355, 
mostly $351, $8 below last week's weighted average, basis Nebraska. 

Today's slaughter totaled 93,000 head, 3,000 below last week, and 28,000 
less than a year ago. Saturday's kill is estimated at 12,000 head, 
bringing the weekly total to 576,000 head, 16,000 greater than the prior 
week, but 33,000 under 2024. Live cattle futures closed mostly modestly 
higher, up 15 to 97, while feeder contracts ended the day sharply higher, 
up 125 to 227. Beef cutouts are expected to close lower with moderate to 
good box movement.
